OK, so it took longer to get around to completing this than I'd expected, but here it is. I still didn't get a chance to go through all my lists from this past year to be sure I didn't miss something, but this should be very close to correct. (In case it's not obvious, I'm not an obsessive list guy in this sort of 'personal accomplishment' sense -- year lists, or life lists, or such -- but, instead, I'm someone who is quite interested in location lists and such.) Unlike the past few years, I didn't make it down to Cameron Parish or elsewhere in Southwest Louisiana during 2017. I did, however, take a trip to the New Orleans area with Tom Pollock way back in January 2017 to search for a few "rare birds", which accounts for some of the species not typically found up here in Cenla showing up on the list below.
Of note, is the absence of several species that would be gimmes in my usual haunts most years (a few examples: Canada Warbler, Solitary Sandpiper, Fulvous Whistling-Duck... ). However, a few tougher finds, and even a few new lifers helped to brighten things up. So, here's my rather modest list of birds encountered during 2017. Please excuse the poor quality of some of the photos - they're really just there because I have them and wanted to put them to use.
